Medical Marijuana . . . Why Not?

I've been getting fan email from friends in Colorado, and a few comments from a certain Pickleope, who happens to have one of the funniest blogs around. They're all asking why I don't just toke up to relieve my aches and pains. If I could lite up, I would in a microsecond. But I can't because I don't want to do the time. Texas is hard on drug enforcement.
Besides, I'm just too pretty for jail.
People are so worried that legalizing marijuana here in Texas would lead to higher crime rates.
But in fact it lowers the crime rate
Also, they claim cannabis is addictive and a gateway drug.
It's not.
I wish everyone would get educated with the right facts.

Because of all the bad hype cannabis is getting,
I don't think it ever will get the legal wave here.
It's sad that Texas is so far behind the times.

Medical Marijuana is the best there is in fighting most diseases and their symptoms.

I have read so many blogs from people writing about legalizing MM, and some of them are here in Texas. I've also heard that we might have a chance to vote on legalization next year. If or when Texas ever legalizes marijuana, there would be such a blaze up; people in other states would think a thick fog bank hit us. It would last for weeks, maybe months.

Legalize it, tax it, regulate it.
All I can do is wait, and hope, and vote.
*SIGH*

IKR?? It's not *legal* here either, but the penalty for less than an ounce for personal use has been reduced to a fine of less than $100 for the first offense. I swear Maryland looks better all the time for me ... or Colorado for you??

Thank you for the very kind and flattering shout out. I hear you as far as the laws go. I think I live in an even more restrictive state that is also known for its affinity for moonshine (fun cognitive contradiction those two things). My sincerest hope is now that medical marijuana has been a reality in many states for a few years now and Colorado and Washington going full legalization while also experiencing a reduction in crime and drunk driving cases, that the federal level will look at the laws and make a nation-wide change.
