Tacky Tuesday

It's really day 5 of the hostage situation.

This is Spunky. He's our only boy out of the 2 Boston Terriers that we own. He's blind from cataracts and 12 years old which makes him the oldest of the puppies that we have. He runs around the house as if nothing could possibly hurt him. He just doesn't care. Walls are his nemesis. We should have called him Tank because he acts like one. If you aren't careful he will run right over you. He also has laid claim to all the dog toys in the house. Everything in the toy box is his. If I gather up all the toys that he has left strategically around the house and put them back into the toy box. He will automatically go and get them out and put them back exactly where they were. It's uncanny how he does it.
This is one of Spunky's favorite toys. It was from one of the Christmas stockings that we got a couple of years ago. It's a hard rubber spiky thing that he likes us to throw for him. Believe me, he finds it when you throw it and will bring it back to you to throw again and again or until he gets tired of the game, which is like NEVER.
It's a fugly dog bone shaped toy. I call it the Hooker Dildo. Why?? Because it looks like one. It's a tacky looking toy. David will not throw it for Spunky ever since he heard me call it a Hooker Dildo. He constantly tells Spunky to get that nasty dildo away from him when Spunky wants David to play. David never thought to call it a dildo until I said it one day. David needs to get out more.

Fuzzy Children

I trust everyone had a great weekend? Also thank you all for the wonderful anniversary wishes. David went back to work this morning. I don't think he really wanted to go. He gave a heavy sigh when he left. I'm thinking he may decide to retire soon.
After a morning at the dog park - just plain tuckered out
Anywho, on Sunday morning, we took the puppies to the dog park to play for a while. They ran around like they were never there before in their whole fuzzy lives. They ran so much that when we got to the car they ran back into the park and didn't want to go home. We had to tempt them into the car with a promise of Micky-D fries. When we got home, they collapsed and fell asleep in their bed from all the playing.

Really! These are not dogs! They're kids! We adopted them. I don't know when or how but they became our children. But we just can't claim them on our income taxes, yet.
Toys - only half of them - the rest are strewn around the house
These little stinkers have a speech impediment or they're mute, take your pick. They like to wear fuzzy onesies all the fucking time. They will never grow up and need to go to school. Maybe that's a plus for us. They leave little face prints all over the windows in the house and car. They have more toys than any kid in the whole fucking neighborhood. I know because I have to pick them up every morning. Half of them are in the hallway outside of the bathroom. Spunky brings five or six of toys to the bathroom door every morning in order to bribe David not to go to work.
Spunky - aka The Spunkinator, The Spunkster, The Spunkaloid, The Old Man

They make a mess of the house when they rough house by knocking things over. When I yell at them for being too rambunctious, they act like I just spanked them, which I would never do even though I threaten so often to do just that.
Pebbles - aka Skeeter, Gator Bait, Tough Little Shit, Stiffy
They know psychology, how it works, and how to use it against us.  YES! They do! They have a meeting and send the cute one, Lucy, to say they're sorry for something they did, or that they want a snack. Yes! They send Lucy because she uses those cute eyes and that "look" of hers to get what she wants. The cute one, so I'll feel bad and say yes to their demands. I have no negotiating skills whatsoever against her. Lucy can charm the shit out of you. Before you know it she has your keys, your car, and charge cards and she's on her way to VEGAS BABY!
Lucy - aka The Cute Innocent One, Lucifer, The Teaser, Daddy's Girl
They get scared and run to find mommy when daddy is watching some stupid scream slasher movie on cable. They don't like the sounds of screaming, thunder, the trash trucks, loud cars or trucks, or zombies noises from The Walking Dead or Z-Nation. They always come looking for me, sit in the chair with me or under my office chair or desk, and shake which causes an unnatural loss of hair all over the floor. Not mine.

Just like little kids, they want their mommy for everything. I have to play with them, feed them, take them out to run (I can't but they can), bathe them, cuddle with them and save them from zombies. Daddy takes them for rides to the vet, so daddy isn't liked much unless he's bringing home fries or sitting in his easy chair so the puppies can sit with him and sleep. Personally, these little shits are really kids.

Spunky Is A Better Actor Than Most Hollywood A-Listers

This morning The Spunkinator refused to get out of bed. When his most royal pain in the ass did finally awaken. He stretched profusely, meaning most cats don't even stretch that much, jeez! But I had a feeling that he had been milking all the special loving care that I heaped upon him the past few days. I decided to take his little ass outside to see just how much acting he could muster.

I started by sweeping out the courtyard while the fuzzy babies were busy checking for cats and squirrels. Then I turned on the hose and squirted whatever dust and dirt lay on the bricks. After that, I watered the planters and then the puppies. Yes! Yes, I did. I watered the puppies but good.

Spunkers can't resist the spray of water. He goes out of his way to pretty much get it right in the mouth. Sorta like the above picture. Yes, I figured the little Oscar nominee was milking it from the get go. He wasn't bad at his acting, but yesterday afternoon when David came home for lunch and The Spunkiloid was playing fetch, I had a hunch.

You see, as soon as David left to go back to work, Spunky wasn't as spunky anymore. He was back in the "sick mode" again. So this morning I called his bluff and the rest is history. But I have to say, the little fucker had me believing for a while.

This weekend we are expecting some rain. I sure hope so. NOT for the rained out flooded areas in Texas, but for those that would like it or need it. Farmers, ranchers, and people like me. I love the rain. Goddess knows we still need it here in my part of Texas.

Vintage Rose
David and I are going to hit the local plant nurserys for new geraniums, petunias, begonias and such. He owes me some plants that he let die while I was down because of my back. We are taking his truck this time because there is so much to buy. I can't lift the potting soil and some of the heavier plants so I'm bringing him along not just for his looks but for his muscles. I bought 2 beautiful hanging baskets from one of my Plant Porn catalogs online. It was a sweet deal too. I am now looking for my favorite petunias to put into them. The 2 I love most are the Suncatcher Vintage Rose trailing petunia and the Mochaccino petunia. But I'll settle for the Raspberry Ice.
Mochaccino
They look nearly the same color but when you put them together they are very different. The are cottage color flowers and I'm hoping to find them again. Might be a while because it was a real hunt for them last time.

A Boy And His Toys

Spunky is a real problem child in the dog world. He's blind and Lucy steals his toys from him. So he wanders the house aimlessly looking for a lost ball or odd toy that he was playing with and lost. Well I noticed the toy box was a bit sparse of toys, and I took it upon myself to find where Lucy had been stashing them.
They were all under David's leather recliner. Sneaky girl. So I moved the chair and retrieved them while the puppies were outside, and threw the toys all back into the toy box. Spunky somehow knew something was different when he came back into the house. It was like Christmas for him. All his favorite toys were back. This is how David and I found him this morning. He was sleeping in front of the toy box, protecting it. Sorry for the bad picture but he was waking up and I needed to take it fast.

Pampered Puppies

Lucy snuggled in. Lazy bug!
DAYUM!!! Today is a lazy day around here. David won't be home for lunch today, "the company is feeding him". That's what he calls it when Hexcel caters lunch for a holiday before the they shut down for a week. That also means the puppies and I are in for a really do nothing, lazy day.

All three puppies were on the bed with me this morning. Just a snoring like little ol' men, all snugged under their blanket. Yes they have their own blanket on the bed. It's to keep muddy or other feet from leaving tracks on David's and my bed. I had the bed heater on David's side turned to 4 so they would be warm. It's fucking 73 degrees outside and they are trying to keep warm. Little pampered brat dogs! Here are a few pictures of them in bed.
All three spoiled puppies snuggled in for sleep. Spunky on the right in the back,
Squirt on the left, and Lucy, my snuggle bunny, up front.

Spunky is the blind ol' man. Sounds like one too when he snores.
He's 11 yrs old now.
I layed down on my side of the bed and not a second later this little snuggle bunny, Lucy, came
over to snuggle with me. She loves her mommy. Squirt is in the background. She came out from under the blanket to see where Lucy went.

No more pictures mom. I'm trying to sleep.
Snuggled in for a long Winter's nap.

The Tether Ball Game

On Wednesday, the puppies and I had a grand ol' time playing under the pecan tree. David went and strung up an official tether ball for them to play with. They absolutely love it as you can see.

Lucy taking one last look at the ball

Pebbles wants to play more. She was the chihuahua we rescued from the puppy farm.
She has finally come out of her shell and trusts us now. We call her Squirt and she seems to like that name
Time to go inside - Lucy all tired out but happy.
The same for Spunky
Pebbles aka Squirt can go another round
Spunky all tuckered out and hot - cooling off the best he knows
Fell asleep
Lucy is down for the count and Squirt is in the kitchen sleeping
Everyone of them are fast asleep right now. Probably recharging their batteries for later no doubt.

A Dog Day

Last week Friday David went for a follow-up with our family doctor. It wasn't good and I'm glad. Glad because David has gained weight and he's borderline diabetic now. He hasn't been doing his morning walks like he used to. Most of it is my fault because of my health. Having back and then knee surgeries has taken a toll on both of us.

So on Saturday morning he got dressed in his ol' walking gear and put the harness on Spunky and both my boys went walking. He was only able to make it around the mile long walking track once but that's pretty good since he hasn't walked in three years.

Spunky is 95% blind now and he fared pretty well. He remembered all his pee spots and didn't lag behind. In fact, Spunkers was leading David around the track. He was soooooooo happy. When they got home, that crazy dog wanted to play ball. I told David we have to hook him up to the Grid with all the energy he has to spare.

We later took Lucy for a ride with us over to New Braunfels to do some extra shopping for a special BBQ sauce that David loves and that the HEB doesn't carry here. She felt so special. She kept wanting to get into the front seat with David while he was driving. I made her stay in the back by blocking the space between the front seats. She kept giving me the angry eye.

While David was inside shopping I took out my camera and snapped a few pictures of her. She was looking all over the place watching people.

The last picture was when David got back to the car. Lucy went into the back seat for the ride home. She was happy.
