Monday

I can't sleep as usual. I heard thunder and went outside to check on my potted plants that are sitting on the courtyard table. One blew over from the massive winds we are having. We are EWX on the map below. Getting slammed pretty hard here. I'm going to quiet down the puppies and then go back to bed. It's about 2:20AM and I'm very tired.
That was one hell of a storm last night. It didn't last long in our area, but we did get quite a bit of rain, which is always great in my book. It's a little cool and the air is dry this morning. I have my coffee and peanut butter toast, so let's get this shit on the road.

This past weekend I tried to go without any electronic devices such as my computers. David said that I am totally depended upon my computer, and I said he was no different. So we had a bet to see who would cave and be on their computer first over the weekend. I almost shit when I made that bet because I didn't have time to set up my weekend posts. So I'm sorry that I let you all down, but a point had to be made. Incidentally, David lost. He accidentally logged on to his computer Sunday afternoon. Yeah, he forgot about the bet when he came back from Home Desperate, got on his computer and logged into his bank book. By the time I caught him he was cussing up a blue streak. So, next weekend he will be doing all the gardening for me.

I can't believe that this whole week is supposed to be sunny and warm. That will give us ample time to clean out the gardens. David hasn't done a whole lot of gardening. He has to have me around to let him know what should be pruned and planted. You saw my roses last week. They are out of control. David refuses to cut anything unless I tell him it's ok to do so. So while I'm sitting on the porch chilling with a book and some sweet iced tea, he will be doing all the pruning and raking and planting. *sigh* Life is good.

I'm back

Okay I'm back as you can see. I had thoughts of quitting this blogging thingy so many times the past week and a half, but I got bored again. So I'm back. Yay.
These turned orange this morning, will be ripe by tomorrow- big as my hand
Lots of things have happened. We have had so much fantastic rain that veggies are coming out the wazoo. David can't believe how many BIG tomatoes that are ripening, and the cucumbers too. He counted 23 tomatoes on one bush yesterday and five of them will be ripe by tomorrow. Yes! That fast. Think I'll be canning a bit this coming weekend for sure. David is just going crazy with this mini farming thing. Last year we had the tomato plants in pots in the courtyard and he was excited when he got his first tomato. We only harvested three off that one tomato plant. So you can see why he's all crazy about this idea about having above ground planting beds.
A cucumber I picked for our salad last night
Everything is so green that it hurts your eyes. I love it! Check out the front yard pics I took last week.
front side of the yard with morning glories and pecan tree which is full of  green pecans now

White Texas Wisteria climbing up the front of the house over the living room window.
Keeps the front rooms cool in the summer. In the green planter hanging are two begonias that are supposed to hate the sun, go figure. They like it fine.
Front right of porch with roses, gardenia, and geraniums

Tiger Cannas in pot on the left actually bloomed this morning. The Cannas on the right next to the Mock Orange tree bloomed last week when I took this picture, is still in bloom in the courtyard.

Cannas bloom up close and personal

Pink miniature roses in courtyard

My red and pink geraniums and small pink flowers of the begonia in the back.
Taken on my front porch

more pink and red geraniums from the front porch

As you can see, so much green it hurts your eyes. If it weren't for the occasional flower I'd go blind.

The Crazy Witch's Daybook

My mood today is My Unkymood Punkymood (Unkymoods)

What I wish my garden looked like
What my silly ass was up to so far today: I went outside to survey my realm and went freaking hog wild. I started by watering the yard. Then I got ahold of the pruning sheers and cut away at all the old dead junk in my garden. Then I just threw some seeds I had in a jar saved up from all the seeds I'd taken from flowers years before. It's a hap hazard way of growing my wild garden but it works.

What I'm thankful for: I have my own home and gardens that I can do anything I damned well please to it. I got David to finally finish putting in the rest of the garden bricks that I wanted him to finish two years ago. So now I need to go get my Hydrangeas from Home Desperate and my Geraniums too. I got cuttings from my Robin Hood Hedge Roses and started them in rooting hormone. Also I am moving my baby banana trees near the car port so they will have protection from the wind. So much to do, so little time.

My one guilty pleasure: I love when the weather finally turns to a warm spring. I love walking around without shoes. I love the feel of the ground under my feet. It makes me feel closer to the Goddess.

What's cookin good lookin: I'm making BBQ chicken that tastes like cat  with Fritos salad. Really the salad is a meal in itself.
Frito Salad  -  serves 8 to 10
1 head lettuce, chopped like for a salad
2 tomatoes, chopped small
2 cucumbers, seeded and chopped small
1 cup sliced green or black olives, whatever your preference (optional)
1/2 cup pickled jalapeƱos, chopped (optional)
1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
1 can regular pinto or red beans, rinsed and drained well
3 to 4 cups of Fritos, not the dipping chips
1 to 2 cups freshly grated cheddar cheese
1 large bottle of Kraft French Dressing
Put everything into a large serving bowl except the Fritos, cheese, and French dressing and let sit covered in the fridge before you are ready to eat. When you are ready to serve your family and/or guests, add the cheese and Fritos.  Add only enough French dressing to lightly coat the salad. Eat up!

The kicker is that once you make this salad it will start to wilt out so make sure to only mix it up when you are ready to serve it otherwise the Fritos get soggy after one hour. Also it's not a great idea to save any of it afterwards because of the soggy Fritos. I love to eat this as just a meal because it's a salad and then you have the protein from the beans. There are many versions of this salad and this one is mine. Please try it. You might be surprised.
