Monday

I was slightly off kilter over the weekend and didn't do a damned thing because of my back again. So today, I'm making up for all that by doing some laundry this morning and cleaning. OY! How can just 2 people make so much laundry in one week. I have 4 loads to do today.
I did get something nice in the mail on Saturday. The Spider plants came. They were carefully wrapped in newspaper in 2-inch pots. They are really quite lush and leafy for plantlings. I was amazed at the wonderful condition they were in when I unwrapped them. The soil was moist and none of them were in shock. Cute little things. Well, I think they're cute. Some of the soil got loose when I put them on the kitchen window sill to sit in the light for a bit but otherwise they look perfectly fine. David ordered them to be expedited. They got here in 3 days time. Now to find nice hanging baskets for them. This calls for a trip to the local nursery. I will probably go tomorrow if I feel good enough.
Mango sprout
Also, on Saturday my mango seedling popped out of the soil. I planted the seed about a week ago and that thing sprouted like magick. I wasn't expecting it for another week. It looks like a dead parrot claw.

I'm going to grow another one as soon as I can go to the store to get mangos. I will be starting lemon seeds as soon as I get a few more. That way I can be sure to have at least 2 lemon plants growing.

Well, this house won't get cleaned by just talking about it. Got to go. Have a great day y'all.

Monday Monday

Well, we bought the waveless waterbed. It was so easy to set up, for me, cause I didn't do shit. Aahahahahaha. Really, David just lugged the thing and placed it into the waterbed frame we already had. He unfolded it, put the conditioner in it, and then ran the hose from outside through the window into it. Then we waited until it seemed full and disconnected the hose and pushed all the air out of it. It was fun because we over filled it and when we slept on it the first night we kept either rolling out of bed unintentionally or rolling into each other. It was fun cause I laughed most of the night. Let's just say we didn't get much sleep. The next morning we let water out of it and it was better last night.

The waveless it pretty good. Better than a Serta mattress, that's for sure. I slept on my side without my spine killing me. In fact, I slept like a baby all through the night. The first time in years. I wake up now without so much pain, but it is still there, just not as much. David was so happy. The only thing is, is that I do get stiff later in the day, but that's because my back gets tired from my sitting or standing too much. Besides the weather has been wetter than usual. That alone is not a good thing for my back.

Speaking of weather if anyone saw that tornado watch on Saturday night for San Antonio we were okay. Never got any high winds or tornado just a shit load of rain. It was a hell of a thunder storm that we got. Yesterday was beautiful and hot. Today is overcast and we are expecting more rain. Which I have no problem with. The more the better so we don't have to water the gardens or the pecan trees.

Well, I have laundry to do and I just know David will be calling me outside soon to ask how should he prune the roses or something he's trying to cut down. Maybe I should just hide his cutting tools. Sounds good to me.

Monday

I can't sleep as usual. I heard thunder and went outside to check on my potted plants that are sitting on the courtyard table. One blew over from the massive winds we are having. We are EWX on the map below. Getting slammed pretty hard here. I'm going to quiet down the puppies and then go back to bed. It's about 2:20AM and I'm very tired.
That was one hell of a storm last night. It didn't last long in our area, but we did get quite a bit of rain, which is always great in my book. It's a little cool and the air is dry this morning. I have my coffee and peanut butter toast, so let's get this shit on the road.

This past weekend I tried to go without any electronic devices such as my computers. David said that I am totally depended upon my computer, and I said he was no different. So we had a bet to see who would cave and be on their computer first over the weekend. I almost shit when I made that bet because I didn't have time to set up my weekend posts. So I'm sorry that I let you all down, but a point had to be made. Incidentally, David lost. He accidentally logged on to his computer Sunday afternoon. Yeah, he forgot about the bet when he came back from Home Desperate, got on his computer and logged into his bank book. By the time I caught him he was cussing up a blue streak. So, next weekend he will be doing all the gardening for me.

I can't believe that this whole week is supposed to be sunny and warm. That will give us ample time to clean out the gardens. David hasn't done a whole lot of gardening. He has to have me around to let him know what should be pruned and planted. You saw my roses last week. They are out of control. David refuses to cut anything unless I tell him it's ok to do so. So while I'm sitting on the porch chilling with a book and some sweet iced tea, he will be doing all the pruning and raking and planting. *sigh* Life is good.

Answers to Friday's Questions

Baby it's cold outside! The  weather isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it is damned cold out there. I love cold and dreary, but my body hates it. I won't let the pain get me down though. So now, let's get to the answers for your questions.

The first one is from Debra,

Where did you live in Hawaii? Was it on the base in Oahu?

No, we didn't live on the base (Schofield). We, my mom, sister, and three brothers, lived with my grandparents in Wahiawa which was very near Schofield. We only stayed with them for a while then we moved to the northwest side of the island to Makaha. This was in the early 60's so the island wasn't that commercialized at the time. There wasn't the scenery blocking highrise hotels everywhere. It was still a nice place to have kids running around barefoot and alone to school through pineapple fields. It was still an innocent wonderful time.

Living in Makaha was fun because we lived across the highway, which was a 2 lane black top that was rarely traveled, from Makaha beach. We would hurry though our homework and then run across the highway to the beach to play until mom called us for dinner. I was 9 yr's old and the oldest.

If you Goole Map Makaha beach, we lived where the Maunalahilahi Botanical Garden is now, and the highway is now 4 lanes. Makaha has built itself up from just a little place it was when we lived there.

The second question is from Birdie,

Do you have kids?

Sadly, no. David and I thought hard about it after we got married and decided it was something we didn't think was really necessary for our happiness as a couple.  He already has a daughter in her 30's from a previous marriage, living and married in Austin. We didn't want to have children so late in our lives. Some people might think we are selfish, but we were thinking of the child having elderly parents before he/she graduates high school.

As for Pickleope, I will not even repeat that question. Like EWWWWWWW DUDE!!!  I do not, and will never perform lewd, crude, or rude actions. You are one sick puppy. Just plain EWWWW!

Yeah, I Guess It's Monday

I hate Monday mornings but there is a good side to today. David finally went back to work after a whole Thanksgiving week off. So that meant I got to lay around and do absofuckinglutely nothing until 11 am. Yeppers, the puppies and I layed in bed like lazy ol' bears. Not a care in the world. Finally, I had the whole house to myself, with the puppies of coarse.

So what did I do??  I cleaned and did laundry! It felt so great to be able to do something again without someone breathing down my neck.

Oh something else to share. I have pictures of the walls and ceiling of the kitchen that David finished taping and floating (plastering over and over and over and ... he's so fucking anal retentive) and painting with a primer. It looks great with the white primer but it's so freaking sterile looking. So here are the pics.

One of the LED lamps he pulled down to paint around

He put up the vent enclosure like I wanted

He finally finished the old oven enclosure and we put in the  microwave and some pots and pans

See how white these walls are

This linoleum is going next. In comes the Bamboo flooring
I have no idea when he will start on the cabinets, counter top or the backsplash. I'm thinking my kitchen will be done around possibly the 4th of July if I'm lucky. But I'll keep y'all posted.
