Tuesday
I'm back, yes, yes I am. I'll never be 100% but I'm back. I had bad back pain this past week and a migraine combo that could stop an elephant dead in its tracks. It was pretty bad. David was scared that he might have to take me to the ER. He hates that place because I usually end up staying in the hospital. But I got through it on my own. Now if there was a cure for my back pain . . .
Has anyone ever seen London Hospital? I was watching it online while I was on my heating pad yesterday. I was only able to watch four episodes that were available and I've been looking for the other episodes in this series and I can't find them anywhere online. I found out that sadly there's only two seasons for this show. It was a great show. I wish there was more of it.
Well, I'm going to go do some exercises for my back and then sit with the heating pad for a while. Ciao Y'all.

I'm Not Back...Yet
Sorry, I was out and didn't post for the whole week. There was another cold front traveling through Texas and it caused my back some awful pain. Problem is that the pain is still with me and it won't go away, even with my heat treatments and exercise. And then around Wednesday, a migraine happened and wouldn't go away either. I think it was triggered by a flash of bright sunlight reflecting off a car that passed by the kitchen window. I was getting a glass of water for my pain meds when it hit me.
Last night the migraine finally went down to a dull thud. It's still with me and there's nothing I can do to make it go away. It has to go away on its own. Believe me when I say I have tried every drug, device, way and means known to mankind in order to get rid of my migraines. My only solutions are to knock myself out with sleeping pills or to just let it take its course and live thru the pain. Really, it's very nerve racking when considering what to do. So I just live with it.
So, I'm going to be out for a little longer. Have patience.

Tuesday- It's Monday Morning's Ugly Sister
Some of you from Debra's blog are wondering what the hell is going on and why am I blackmailing her. Well, It's all just for fun. Things were getting a little boring and last week Monday I mentioned in my blog :
By the way everyone, thank you for those comments. Some of them are outrageously entertaining. You know how easy it is to entertain me too. Yeah, just wave the pretty shiny things and the paper money and I'll take those incriminating pictures off my blog.
Debra and I took that piece and we both ran with it. It was fun. It also gave her the idea for her Monday morning blog post which was yesterday. If you haven't seen it, you really have to go over there and check it out. I laughed so hard I was in tears and I almost spilled my coffee. She picked my all time favorite Monty Python Flying Circus - Blackmail video for that segment in her blog. Hilarious shit.
Since I learned about Pebbles and her diabetes, I have made major changes in the diet of all my dogs I adopted the diet that Joanne made for her dog Ruby. It's called Ruby Stewbie. Since I started them on this recipe Pebbles is slowly starting to put the weight back on. She gives me all kinds of grief when I give her the shots but it's a necessary evil. She goes back to the doctor in about four weeks to check her blood sugar and kidney function. The kidney function is what I'm worried about, so we will see.

Monday - Where is my money!
So sorry my dear readers. I was busy looking through my mail to see if certain monetary items made it through the mail this morning. I will have to call my dear "friends" today and let them know that the amount has doubled. BWAAHAHAHAAAHAHAAAA! *cough cough hack cough* Sorry, I should look into that cough. I seem to have caught it while on a trip to Maine. Beautiful place, nice for taking wildlife pictures.
Anywho, Yes I have been a bit busy. David was off Friday afternoon and I wasn't in the mood to go anywhere after my trip up north. I did a bit of housework and I played with the puppies. Pebbles is starting to put on a bit of weight again. At least she's looking better and not sleeping as much. Her drinking water is down too. so things are working. She's not out of the woods yet though. She see's the vet in about four weeks for a follow up. So we will see.
Other than that nothing else has happened. I'm still waiting on my "friends."Ciao Ya'll!

Pebbles and her Diabetes
I'm so sorry about posting so late. Wet weather and an expected cold front that's set to pass through here at 3 pm today was keeping me in bed this morning. I'm hurting like nobody's bizz. But on to what I promised.
Pebbles aka Gator Bait a year ago, healthy. |
Saturday David and I took Pebbles to the vet to find out what I already knew. She has diabetes. But the shit of it all is that she will have to be on insulin and of course a diet. I will get on with that later here. She has never been overweight. She has always been a trim 11 or 12 lbs. The vet noted that in her file since we rescued her that she never wavered on the fat side. She's always been very healthy. In fact she and the other puppies, Spunky and Lucy, see the vet every 6 months for their heartworm shots and every 12 months for their rabies and other shots. They also get a chewable treat that keeps the fleas and ticks off them. The fleas are really bad here because of the wet weather and feral cats. They are very well taken care of and loved by us.
Well, a few weeks ago I noticed Pebbles started drinking way too much water and having to go out to urinate. Sometimes she never made it outside and there would be a puddle or 2 in the kitchen. What really alarmed me was when I noticed I could see her ribs and pelvis. I got scared last week and told David we need to get her in to see the doctor.
Pebbles, her bones are showing. It's so sad. |
They took her in right away when they receptionist saw her and how scrawny she looked. It was heartbreaking. They weighed her, which is now 8.3 lbs. and took blood to see her blood glucose and insulin levels besides the other chemistry and CBC lab tests and urine for kidney function tests. I broke down when they said she had diabetes and her kidneys were damaged from all the protein loss. That is near certain death. She isn't going to be with us for too long. I asked if it was possible to get her back up to her regular weight and keep her on insulin. The doctor said she may or may not survive. Now listen here. I have seen doctors that were proven wrong and I aim to see that through with this little girl. I asked for her to be treated as if her kidneys were fine. We went round and round about it and I won. So they gave us insulin and supplies and showed us how to inject her. The vet tech gave us a diet plan for her and a schedule for regular blood tests and such. In the meantime, I am keeping my patient happy, I hope.
I found a few fantastic blogs and websites for diabetic dogs. Pebbles hates getting her insulin shots and I found what Joanne Becotte did for her dog Ruby was insightful. She has a wonderful blog about her diabetic dog and she unknowingly is helping me with Pebbles and her diabetes. She has a fantastic level of information that is great for diabetic animals and humans and where to find what you need at low prices. You should read her blog just for the fun of it. it is chock full of info. If you have a dog or cat with diabetes, do your homework and explore the internet. It is full of wonderful eye-opening articles and blogs out there that will help you.
