MY MINIONS

Update:

I've completely reverted back to my old night owl self. I was really happiest when I worked nights in the lab and now I'm back at the same hours. David goes to bed at 7pm every single night. Once he hits the pillow he's out cold. So I get up. do some light cleaning, read, bake, do a load of laundry, read emails, etc. I basically keep busy. Then at 4 or 4:30am I go to bed for about 4 or 5 hours. I wake up at around 9:30am and I feel refreshed. Then I do the heavy or loud cleaning like vacuuming.

It's weird because David and I see each other but it's limited and it keeps me from trying to kill him because he has to come to bother me all the time. Most of the bother is that he shows me Tiktok videos of kids or animals that he says are funny. I have to admit that they are cute and some are funny but I'm not into watching shit like that all the time all day long. He sits in the TV room with the TV on a streaming channel he likes with his laptop on his desk going and he has his phone on Tiktok watching videos. How can he live with all that fucking sensory overload is beyond me? I walk into that room and I have to walk out. I just don't like all that noise. So I let him have his space and I have my quiet in the living room reading with the dogs sleeping next to me on the couch.

I recently got a new pain specialist. He's really nice. He has an office here in town and one in New Braunfels so I don't have to drive too far for my appointments. Before he saw me, he wanted an update on my pain causes so he ordered x-rays and MRIs of my lower back. Seems that my arthritis has moved up my spine and is now lodged from S1 all the way up to L1.

My activities around the house have been limited because of the pain. It's a constant 7 on the Pain scale. Yeah, fun shit. The pain shifts to a 4 on the pain scale if I sit with a pillow on my back for lumbar support or if I lay in bed in a fetal position. So, he wants me to consider spine spacers.

They are minimally invasive BUT there could be problems if they are in place and they cause fractures of the spinal processes,

that's the flat boney piece of the spine that you feel when you run your fingers up and down the middle of your back.

Anywho, knowing my luck the damned thing will either become dislodged or break my bones. So I'm opting out of having that done. I also found another pain specialist that treats osteoarthritis. Yeah, he looks promising too. I'm going to check him out to see how he treats me before I go with him. It's rare to find an osteoarthritis doctor who really knows his shit and doesn't treat patients like crap by shoving them into surgery to see if something is going to work. So, we will see how this works out. I have one major problem right now that I need them both to look into, I'm having trouble with my hands going numb when I'm typing or writing. It feels like a pinched cervical nerve because pins and needles radiate down my arm into my hands. It could be arthritis doing this shit or this could be from an old car accident I had 30 years ago. Who knows. It will be up the the doctors to find out what is going on.
Meanwhile on the moon . . .

Well, that's the shit I'm handling lately. Y'all stay safe, wear your mask and get the jab when you need to. Ciao.

so many doctors rush patients to have surgery done. i think checking out alternatives to surgery is very smart!

Yeah, Marc and I pretty much stay in separate rooms. We come together for meals and in the evenings for an hour or two of TV. We not only live together but we worked together, no respite when someone goes off to work, we're here 24/7 for over 40 years. So yeah, we hang out in separate rooms and about 4 years ago I moved into the guest bedroom so I could finally get some sleep. Full size bed, husband that needs to lose 30 pounds who snores, dog, and cat. Dog and cat moved into the other bedroom with me.

Here's hoping your new pain specialists can come up with the goods.

Thanks for the update, Leanna! My Rare One is like your David -- TV, laptop, phone all going at once. And I'm like you -- "Cacaphony!" I yell. "I can't stand all this cacaphony!" Good times.

I hope your new doctors can help you find more relief. And your tingling hands -- could it be carpal tunnel syndrome? Would an ergonomic keyboard help? Might be worth exploring.

I was looking at spine spacers. There is one called coflex that looks like it has some flex to it so your bones aren't locked into position.

I hope you find some sort of relief soon, with either doctor. If only the spine spacers could be firm yet flexible, like latex cushions.

Leanna,

Have you ever tried accupuncture?

Well, your doctors are a step off from some I've seen. Their attitude is "you gotta pain? I gotta pill". Don't think I'd like ones that think surgery is the all knowing oracle answer - "this might possibly, maybe, could fix the problem". I'm glad to see you back again!
