🤨 I understand regional differences and they can be great fun, but I ordered iced tea in Atlanta once, naively expecting just tea, and I can still remember my system shock! Oh my! I tried really hard to enjoy it, but it wasn't just sweet, it was SWEET!! 😲 The server offered me unsweetened tea, which I accepted (and yes, I added a bit of sugar) and we kidded about whether she had to go to a scary vault somewhere and grovel to be allowed to serve such a travesty! That part was fun and earned the server a large tip! 🤩
Yes. Yes it is regional, here in Texas. I never had SWEET tea until I moved to Seguin. Really, there are a lot of things that El Paso doesn't know about or have that the privileged east Texans have. It would take me a year to count them off to you but yeah, SWEET tea is a thing out here. I can't order it because my teeth would rot and fall out. And that Texas Autobahn is real too. It goes from I-10 just slightly east of Seguin to Austin and beyond and people who can't keep up stay off of it. It's also a toll road so there's that. Last time we drove to Austin to see the kids(David's daughter and her husband near Lake Travis) we took it and I drove because David drives like an old man after church on Sunday. Slow as hell. Anyways I hit 115mph and sports cars were passing me up. I clocked it. We made it there in 39 minutes when I-35 takes us an hour and a half. It's a clean stretch of highway. No wrecks on it yet, "knock wood." Also not truckers. Lots of Lamborghinis and Porsches. Saw a Porsche Cayenne headed to Austin. Nice car.
I have heard about the sweet tea from someone who was from Michigan. I like sweet tea but he told me nope. You haven’t had sweet until you go to the south and have it lol
Yeah, it's pretty much rot your teeth right out of your mouth on the first sip. Might as well book an appointment with your dentist for the same day if you can.
