Let the cats have the shrimp and caviar. It's not like bugs and fish eggs are fit for human consumption anyway. I have no idea what canapés are, and hopefully, so it will remain. That cat does look very elegant, though.

All the best pre-dinner (or instead of dinner) stuff comes in little packages, paired with alcohol, and never has an English name. 🍡 Hors d'oeuvre (pronounced or-durv) is any little bit of finger food. Gotta start the appetite juices. 🍓🫒 Crudités (raw things) are the raw veg or fruit with dip. 🥪🍷 Tapas (cover, lid) are the little plate of bread or meat, topped with delicious little bits, which can be used to cover your glass of wine or spirits between sips to keep them pristine. [Doesn't work for me. I don't sip or nurse a drink. I'm more of a gulper.] 🦪🥟And canapé (couch or base) holds some great tastes in little bits on bread or cracker. 🍢🧆 I prefer all these foods, in French and Spanish names, to having a meal. I get away with eating more because I roam a room snarfing up little foods in stealth and relative privacy. 😋🤤 The pampered kitty in the last photos looks a lot like me after such a snarfing session! 😽 Bon Appétit!! 🥳
