Hi River. Malis are the sleeker form of German Shepherds. They are used for bomb and drug sniffing and they are more and more being used as police dogs. They don't make good pets because of their crazy high energy. They must go through training or they will through your house and I mean tear. They are the crazy breed.
I can see the resemblance, we had German Shepherds when I was young and when my children were young we had a shepherd border collie mix and later another German Shepherd, black and gold instead of the usual black and tan.
