My African Violet Bloomed

Yesterday I was watering my flowering plants that David gave to me for our last two wedding anniversaries. I love plants so I asked David to get me them instead of cut flowers. They last so much longer and I get joy from seeing them bloom over the years.

Anywho I have been keeping all my flowering house plants under a blue tarp in the spare room off of the kitchen with a UV blue light to keep them all happy. Boy are they happy as hell. The top picture is the African violet David gave me last year. It was a pitiful sight with the other plants in the basket it came in as it was tucked under some miniature roses out of sight. It had no flowers or even flower buds and the leaves were light green. Very poor looking indeed. I would have thrown it out if not for the UV light I bought for the winter.

Well, as you can see from the top picture it has thrived better than I ever imagined. It also gave me a present of a beautiful pink flower with a white lace like edge and tiny little purple specks on the petals. This is nothing like the usual dark purple or pink flowers on an average violet plant. Also, the petals give off a sparkle as if it was dusted with pixy dust. I showed it to David last night and he was amazed at how pretty it was.

I asked him later if he would build me a little window stand for my flowers. He said sure. I want to start buying more African violets and even some primroses. I showed him the primroses from a Logee's catalog that I want to start growing and he said it was ok with him. I'm in heaven right now.

Plant Porn / Bow-Chika-wow-wow

Garden Porn Catalogs

Esperanza bush  source
Over the weekend David and I played dirty. He dug up the area along the chain linked fence and planted  6 more Esperanza bushes. He loves those things. We have them growing along the south and west sides of the house. When these little lovelies grow, they block the hot Texas sun from hitting the house. They love the heat and tolerate drought conditions to a certain degree. Meaning we only have to water them once a week. They also attract bees like crazy and we need bees for our veggie garden, so Esperanzas are helping us out in more ways than one here.

Astilbe source
He also planted a butt load of Astilbe in 4 different colors for me. They were planted in the front garden in the shady areas. These flowers love the shade and tolerate almost every abuse you can throw at them. We will see if they stand up to those SOB cats in the neighborhood who like to use my garden for their personal toilet.

I also received a buttload of Begonia bulbs in the mail. I bought a whole catalog full of them. I love garden porn  These are the flowering kind. One of my most favorite flowers to grow and the hardest to keep alive. I love begonias because they are so pretty and the flower is like that of a rose. They come in beautiful colors and are also shade lovers. I planted them this morning and I'm hoping I can get these to grow and flower. If they do I will be the happiest camper ever.

Everyone wanted to know what I was writing about with David marking his territory and the flowers blooming a all. Also extra pictures of the puppies. Special note... David is typing this for me cause I'm in like in white hot pain here g/f. I endedup in the ER Sunday evening and I feel like shit. My back is a complete mess now and the Valium and Hydrococone the doc pit me on is bearly healping. I am waiting for an opening to see doc Miller my pain doc so I can get intothe surgical clinic and get the shots to releive my pain. so as of no I will not be on until further notice. Linda in NM i tried your number but it is not in survice. enjoy the pictures and stuff i had prpared last week for today my friends...ciao

Some of you have been requesting pictures of things that I have written about in the past. So here's a few I was unable to post the pictures with because I ran out of battery life in my camera before I could take the picture. So I took the picture of David's marked territory before he dug it all up and the after picture when he got the garden bricks. This is around one of our pecan trees in the front yard.

I want to plant geraniums in here but David won't let me. He wants roses. So we will be buying knockout roses and put white river stones along with it to keep the cats from using the bathroom in there.

Spunky, David's walking buddy

Some of you wanted more pictures of the puppies, only the Goddess knows why. So here they are
He hates his picture taken, notice he is sticking his tongue at me.

Pebbles wants attention

Pebbles was the little one we saved from a puppy farm. She was severely abused and very scared of human touch. As you can see that has changed. A little love goes a long way. If you will notice she has cataracts in both eyes and we have her scheduled for surgery in two weeks.

Pebbles, part Chihuahua, part Boston, part Diva

Lucy, my sweet baby girl, such a profile!

Lucy the teaser. She loves to start things with Pebbles Her profile is striking. Here she is sitting on David's lap on the front porch when I took the picture from the living room couch. We didn't have her tail cropped because it was crooked just like her personality.

Take Some Time Out

Sorry, my minions, but I am going to take some time away from my blogging. I know, what a bitch, huh. But I'm just so damned tired lately and Fibro is kicking my ass again. So I'll be off line for a few weeks.
