My husband and I were talking about this the other day. Churches should pay taxes. Unless they are doing some major charitable and humanitarian efforts they need to be taxed. Period.
Churches, and especially the Catholic Church, are heavily involved in politics: they should not be tax exempt, but should be able to deduct any money use in humanitarian works as a charitable contribution - all other income should be taxable. the Ol'Buzzard
I agree with you both BUT, how would the government make them prove their tax deductions on humanitarian works. That's a tricky situation that I'm sure they would exploit every tax loophole just like the way they exploit their God.
