MY MINIONS

Monday, February 24, 2020

I'm taking a little time off this week. I had a lupus attack on Saturday and I'm really tired. So I'm out for a while.

Thursday

It's nice and cold outside this morning. I didn't want to get out of bed. The waterbed heater keeps it so nice and warm and comfy. I had to get up though because Lucy needed to go out again. Spunky was sleeping in his bed which has a heating pad to keep his old bones warm and he has a really nice register heater in the room too. I think that is the warmest room in the house besides the kitchen.
This weekend I want David to inspect the attic to make sure there are no holes in the vent screens. The squirrels have been very damaging to our neighbor's house and we sure don't want them in our attic chewing wires and such. They are getting so desperate for food that they are eating the tree buds before they can bloom. I put out food across the street and they attack it before I even start to walk away.
David has officially got a cold. Yep. He's taking Dayquil for it while he's at work. He ran out of pills and was going to stop by HEB on his way to work Wednesday morning and the place was closed. There were yellow cleaning trucks parked near the front of the store and they wouldn't let anyone in to get groceries. Apparently, there was a small fire around 3:30 in the morning that started in the cardboard compactor. That caused the sprinkler system to go on and douse everything in the store. Anything that had smoke or water damage is being replaced. We don't have any idea when the store will reopen. David says we will have to do our shopping in New Braunfels on Saturday morning because he isn't doing it in Walmart. But just in case they do open up on Saturday morning we will swing by HEB to check. Crossing our fingers and toes.
Well, I have to go make lunch for David. He'll be home soon plus I have to check on the bread dough. It's been an hour and a half since I put it in the oven to proof. Y'all have a magical day and stay warm.

Tuesday? Already?

It's colder than a witch's . . . well, you know. This morning Lucy didn't want to get out of bed and neither did I. I was perfectly comfortable and warm. But things have to get done today. I put on the TENS and got dressed while that little lazy dog watched. She burrowed back under her pink camo blanket and that is where she stayed. I made some nice hot tea and put some peanut butter on a slice of toast and went into the dining room to check on my plants and I heard the bedroom door hit the door stop and there was this little girl with her blanket draped over her back. I sware if she could talk she would have said, "mommy why did you leave me in there?" Then she proceeded to follow me around the house as I opened the blinds and pulled open drapes. At some point, she lost her blanket so while she was outside doing her biz I backtracked, found it, and draped it over the register heater in the living room By the time she came inside she was shivering. I told her to get off the cold floor and go lay on her part of the sofa which she did and I covered her with her now toasty warm blanket. She is snuggling next to me under her blanket. I expect to hear her start snoring any minute. By then I will finish my tea and get started on the laundry and house cleaning.
David has been coughing since last week Thursday. Every year about this time he gets a nagging cough. It's because of the weather. When it gets warm here in this part of Texas he gets what he calls Spring Fever. It's always in February or March, whenever the weather turns warm. It's because of the mountain cedar and early budding on the neighbor's trash tree(that's what he calls it) not to mention the early budding of our pecan trees. He has to carry around his inhaler and take his meds. Yet he coughs as if he were a chain smoker. I keep joking that he's spreading the coronavirus and he said he doesn't drink beer. Thank the Goddess it only lasts for a couple of weeks.
Well, I have some dusting and vacuuming to do. Y'all have a magical day.

Something New

Starting this Saturday I will be posting science videos. This is an effort by me to wake a few people up about changes happening to our home. Yes! Our home, the planet that which we all live on. I'm hoping this will change some locked up mindsets and make people think about changing their habits to help maintain a cleaner Mother Earth. I know, I know, it's going to be hard because there are so many idiots who never think twice about the paper or beer can they throw out their car windows or say why should I think about recycling because someone like you is doing it for me already.
Well, Earth Day is April 22 this year. We all have to think about how we can do our part to save our planet and turn around the crap that we have all done to it. Not to just do perform good "planet-saving acts" this April 22 but to do it every day all year long, every year, for the rest of our lives, for the time we have left to breathe. We have to get down and dirty and change things before there is no turning back. You can go on the internet to see how you can help save the planet. To start you off, go herehere, and here, these are just baby steps to get you thinking and starting you off in the right direction. The rest is up to you. Be lazy and wallow in your filth or clean house and help save the planet.

WE NEED TO ACT!!

I am posting this video because I'm hoping to get the message across that we already know he won't be impeached because the GOP Senate is complicit. We, as the people of the United States of America, need to stand up and vote him out in November. We can't keep him in the White House to rape our country for another four years. Don't say you won't vote because your voice isn't heard. That's a stupid excuse for stupid people. Get registered, vote him out before there is no more America left for us.

Girl Scout Cookie Time and Other Shit

It's that time of year again. Girl Scouts are out in packs hunting down every fat person they can possibly bag. It's not hard for them, we can't run fast enough and they sell such great cookies. David loves their peanut butter cookies and I go for the thin mints and samoas. David said they were setting up at nearly every storefront in town. That's a lot of little girls with cookies hunting down fat people. The sad thing is that they know our weaknesses. Little monsters.

Yesterday was a good day. I woke up in a butt load of pain but I somehow made it through the morning and was able to get a few things done around the house and do some laundry. I actually felt good for a change which I find hard to understand but yeah, I made it through. I made sloppy joes for an early dinner before the super bowl game. After I cleaned up the kitchen dishes I put some Pepsi and Mountain Dews on ice for David and in case the kids came over to visit during the game. I made an herbal veggie dip Saturday night and it was sooo ready by the time the game began. I cut up some carrots, celery, and cucumber spears, made a small cheese tray and a small bowl of green olives and set everything out so there would be no interruption. I kept everything as simple as possible. I chilled a bottle of wine for myself and relaxed for the evening. We laughed at the funny commercials and I thought Jason Momoa's commercial for Rocket was funny as shit. I laughed so hard.

The game was awesome and I was so happy that Kansas City Chiefs won. Their quarterback looks like a kid but he is an awesome player. Patrick Mahomes played quarterback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders when he was in college, damned good quarterback. He played a fantastic game last night. Lubbock Texas must be sooooo proud right now.
I've been feeling poorly for the past few weeks so I've been just auto-posting. That's when I set up posts ahead of time and then set dates and times for certain things to get posted. It works pretty well for me when I feel ill. I try to keep up with the other blogs but if I didn't get around to yours in the past week or so, sorry guys. I'm trying.
