Day 31 July Blog Challenge

Day 31:

What one person from history would you most like to spend a day with? Why?

I guess it would have to be Leonardo da Vinci. I'm intrigued by him and his work. Especially his art work. I would ask who the Mona Lisa was.

I would love to see his workshop. Where did he get his ideas. I would love to see his notebooks and sketches. I would love to just pick his brain to see what ideas he had that never made it to paper. He is a very interesting person to me.

Day 30 July Blog Challenge

Day 30:

What is one thing you cannot do without in your kitchen.

I would have to say my knives. Really now. I can't do anything without cutting or chopping in my kitchen. I eat a lot of veggies and fruit. So it would be my knives.

Day 29 July Blog Challenge

Day 29:

What is the last thing that you bought just for yourself?

The only thing I can think of would have to be my 2004 Honda Accord. I bought a brand spanking new Honda Civic in 2004. Drove it home to El Paso (11 hour drive)Texas to see my mom and family for Thanksgiving. The newness of it all soon wore off. It just wasn't what I liked.

So I took the Civic back to the dealership and said I wasn't happy with it and wanted to try something else. I tried the CRV and instantly got bad vibes, a month later the CRV's were recalled for some nasty thing or other. My Witchy sixth sense was busy that day.

Well after looking around for an hour and not finding anything, I happened to glance over at the cars the dealership uses to shuttle people to their jobs while their cars are being fixed or whatever. There she was. My new sweet baby. I started to walk over to the 2004 Honda Accord on the side lot when the sales man said it was not for sale. "Oh but she's soooo pretty," I squeeled. They wanted to sell me something similar but I wanted this one.

I asked if they could just let me drive this Accord. They let me drive her and I was so in love with it. It had all the bells and whistles and it was quiet to drive. I was crazy in love with it. I told the sales guy if this one isn't for sale as a used car then I'll go somewhere else. Well, they gave me a great deal on her, used. I drove her off the lot after they cleaned her up and I haven't had another car since. My Accord was paid up in just two years. She still looks brand new and runs like a dream. Sometimes David lets me drive it when we go out. But it's like rock, paper, scissors to see who gets behind the wheel.

Day 28 July Blog Challenge

Day 28:

What has been your best vacation memory?

Actually I have never, ever had a vacation in my life. No, really! I've never had one. I wouldn't want to either. I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I would probably feel weird if I did take a vacation.

Day 27 July Blog Challenge

Day 27:

Do you own a smart phone? Tell us why you love it.

Glad to say that I don't own a smart phone. I have a regular LG flip phone that I keep in my purse at all times. I only use it when I'm driving or away from home. I'm old fashioned in the way of phone techno. I don't need all the bells and whistles just to have a phone.

Day 26 Post A Picture Of Something Yellow

Day 26:

Post a pictures of something yellow.

Esperanza flowers in my garden. They are also called "Yellow Trumpet" and "Yellow Star" These suckers get to be over 10 feet tall. We have them all along the southern and western  sides of our house to keep the house cool in the summer. We have to cut them down to the bare bones in the winter. This shit is like bamboo but they're so pretty to look at.

Day 25 July Blog Challenge

Day 25:

What was your favorite childhood book?

I think I would have to change that to books. I was infatuated with Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books by Betty MacDonald. The books were started in 1947 all the way up to 2007. I was a Piggle-Wiggleholic. Every time I got the chance to go to the school library I would check out a Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle book. I kept reading those books up until I turned twelve.

I was fascinated by her cures, powders, and magic to change bad kids into good kids. Not to mention the fact that she lived in an upside down house and smelled of baked cookies all the time. She reminded me of my grandmother.

Day 24 July Blog Challenge

Day 24:

Who was your childhood celebrity crush?

Mine was Bobby Sherman from the TV series "Here Come The Brides" back in 1969 - 1971. I was in my mid teens when I saw those incredible neon baby blue eyes. The rest of him wasn't bad either. Those of you that are in your late 50's will understand.

Last I heard, he retired from the California Sheriffs Dept. in 2010 and is still working with the LAPD.

Day 23 July Blog Challenge

Day 23:

What is your favorite part of the day and why?

I love the morning but I really love night time even more. David usually goes to sleep at 8 p.m. because he wakes up early in the morning around 4:30 a.m. So that leaves a night owl like me alone to read or do things like laundry or light cleaning. I like being able to sit outside without someone bothering me. It's like me time.

Day 22 July Blog Challenge

Day 22:

What are your 5 biggest pet peeves?

  • I hate when someone says something muffled behind my back aimed at me. Then when I ask what did they said, they say "nothing". That really pisses me off that they don't have the guts to say something to my face. My sister did that a lot to me. Guess that's one of the reasons I don't talk to her to this day.
  • I hate reality shows. It's all scripted and bullshit and full of stupidity.
  • Cats! They are sweet and cute, but they are nasty little beasts. Please don't think bad of me. I tolerate them but when they come into my garden and use it as their own private toilet and dig up my plants and lay all over my flowers, I can't help but hate them to a certain degree.
  • I hate when people misspell words. Computers have spell check to help you, please use it.
  • I hate when cars go by and they have their stereos blasting so loud that you can hear them coming a half mile away. They ride by slowly sometimes at 2 a.m. and they make your windows in the house rattle. I can't wait to see these idiots later in life. A whole generation of deaf dumb shits.

Day 21 July Blog Challenge

Day 21:

What are your thoughts on how the media portrays body image for young girls?

The media makes me sick! I hate the way they lie to the female population about things that are important to us. That being personal appearance, what we wear, our weight, hair styles and such.

Weight is one of the most important things in a woman's mind. I have seen women I won't call them girlfriends because this has happened to me  wield power because of weight. They look down on, make fun of, and talk behind the backs of other women that are slightly fat to grossly obese. This is all from the way media has portrayed the way women should be.

They literally shove it down the throats of young girls that read and look at magazines like Elle, Glamour, Fashion, Vogue, etc. The fashion models are but wisps of flesh much like survivors of Auschwitz with the fashion designers clothes hanging off of them. When the fashion mags can't find a skinny bitch they air brush the shit out of the model so badly that the poor girl looks like a circus side show attraction.

I thank the Goddess (Yes I'm a Witch) that Kate Upton is around. She shows women what a real woman should look like. Not fat, not skinny, but just right. I love her. I wish the media would take a lesson from her and see women aren't all skinny mini's. We have bodies that we all want to feel proud of. I'm not exactly Kate's weight - yet. But I'm working on it slowly because of health reasons and the fact that I want to be around on this earth for a while longer.

Day 12 July Blog Challenge

Day 12:

What or who do you take  the most pictures of?

Lucy, she's my sweet baby girl. The youngest of my Boston puppies. She's smart as a whip, loving, a tease, a wise ass, a little beggar, ornery, and I love her to death.

I told her to keep her paws off the screen door. This is what she does.
 She's looking for squirrels.
Begging David for a piece of sausage.
She wants up on the couch. I said no. Her way of looking like an orphan so I'll feel sorry for her.
She's mad at me and won't pay attention. She does this when she can't get her way.
Looking at me through the front screen door. She's sitting on David's knee.
Watching a squirrel. Look at that profile.

Day 10 and 11 July Blog Challenge

Day10:

Who inspires you?

Would you believe my dogs inspire me. They push me to get up every day even though I'm in pain. They show unconditional love when I'm mad because I can't do the things I used to be able to do, they calm me down. They entertain me with their antics. They make me go outside with them. I kid you not. They will refuse to go out unless I go with them. They inspire me to live more and cry less.

Day11:

What is the worst injury you have ever had?

Hmmmm. Now that's a hard one because if I were a cat I'd be on my 7th life. I would have to say my back. I have Degenerative Disc Disease which causes the discs in my back to literally disintegrate slowly. This causes the nerves coming from the spinal cord to be compressed and the pinching of the nerves cause debilitating pain. It feels like I'm on the Rack being pulled apart. This is not only from my weight and age, but also it's genetic my mother's side of the family. Thanks mom!

I have had at least 6 injections to block the pain and kill some nerves but it didn't seem to work. I've also had the facets widened to ease the nerve pain and swelling. No dice. I will not let them, as a last resort, put any titanium rods and screws into my spine. NEVER! Everyone says it's not worth it and they would have never had the surgery. They still have back pain and have trouble bending and turning. All said and done, I'll live with the pain.

Day 9 July Blog Challenge

Day 9:

What is your food philosophy?

That's an easy one. I have changed my eating habits like you wouldn't believe! I eat what I like but in moderation. I only eat when I'm hungry. I also put a hold on the sugar thing and that includes artificial crap, and no prepared foods if I can help it.

I eat LOTS of fresh fruit and veggies, less red meat and only good carbs. Yes, I know, what the fuck are bad carbs as apposed to good carbs. Is there such a thing as a good carb? SHEEESH!

Good Carbs aka Complex Carb - low in glycemic index-  low in sugars, are fresh veggies, fresh fruit, beans, whole grains.

Bad Carbs aka Simple Carbs - high in glycemic index- high in sugars, made of regular white flour, processed foods, processed juices, chips, candies, cookies, basically crap.

Shit, I could go on and on about this stuff because there is so much of it. If you want to know more go to youtube.com and check out all there is about healthy eating. Or you can save yourself the anguish of looking and just click this link, HealthNation. There is so much good information on eating right and it's pretty straight forward and easy to understand.

Day 8 July Blog Challenge

Day 8:

How will your life be different in 5 years?

I really cannot say what my life will be like in five years. Nobody can unless they have some sort of contraption that can show them or take them into the future.

If it were possible though, I would like to know that David and I are still going strong as we are today. That the puppies are still healthy and happy. That there will be absolutely no wars going on in five years, Cancer will be completely obliterated, and we will be healthier and happier. But it's not possible. So I'll take each day as it comes because any day is a good day that I can get out of bed.

Day 7 July Blog Challenge

Day 7:

If you could live in any time period in the past, what would it be and why?

I can't think of any time period that I would have wanted to live in except the one I live in now. I have seen and experienced some awesome and revolutionary things. The first man on the moon, the space program, the Hubble telescope, the Skylab, the Berlin Wall going up in 1961 and down in 1989, the end of segregation, computers, gay rights, the first black president, the greatest explosion of scientific, technological, medical, industrial, and social advancements in history. Why would anyone not want to live in this time period.

Day 6 July Blog Challenge

Day 6:

If you could spend 15 minutes with any celebrity who would it be and why?

It would have to be Miranda Lambert. She's a Texas born and raised woman. Like me, she is married to her best friend. Her songs mostly tell stories of women who live their lives on their own terms and refuse to take shit from stupid men. I think she is the coolest woman alive.

I want to spend those 15 minutes with her asking about what motivates her to write her songs. I want to watch her write and sing a song. I want to see the song writing process. Then later we could maybe have a BBQ.

Day 5 July Blog Challenge

Day 5:
Post a picture of something or someone that made your day special.
This is Lucy, our youngest of the Bostons in our house. She has an insatiable need to be near me at all times "cause she loves her mommy". Yes, yes she does. She is so damned cute and loving. I'm scared to leave her outside unattended because she will play with anyone and that scares me because people love to steal purebreds like her.

This little rascal is so special to me and my husband. She shows nothing but unconditional love 24/7. She's a spoiled little smart ass diva.

I'm Still Alive, Happy 4th Of July, And Blog Challenge

I did not abandon y'all. I have a reason for not blogging yesterday and being late today. Wet Dog Wednesday was already set up to automatically post so it got posted like after midnight around one something in the morning. Not sure of the exact time.

Anywho, I ended up in the ER Late Tuesday night with blinding pain in my lower back. The doctor ordered something really good for the pain, which made me sleep for a few hours. I had to undergo x-rays and then an MRI. I was in the ER for about 11 hours total. I finally got home before noon on Wednesday.

So, I have a slipped disc and three pinched nerves between L2, L3, and L4. I'm back on pain killers and I see my Orthopedic back doctor next week Friday. David has been so worried and all. I do love him so. I wish he'd just take this with a grain of salt and get over it. I hate to see him worried like this. It's not like I'm dyin.

So. I'm picking up from yesterday.

Day 3:
What was the last movie you saw in a theater?
The last time David and I went to see a movie was years ago. I'm not too sure but I think it was "X men". It was on a date night. The movie was okay but kind of boring and predictable. I love action and/or comedy movies. But this was meh.

Day 4:
If you could rid the world of anything what would it be.
If I could, it would be harmful insects. This includes biting insects like spiders (which were actually an alien slave workforce that got loose), flies, roaches, fleas, bedbugs, etc. These suckers spread disease. I hate them and they have no real use on earth. Eyuck!

Oh, Happy 4th Of July my dear friends. Stay safe.

Day 2 of July Blog Challenge

Day 2:

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice what would it be?
It would be futile to give a newborn advice when it doesn't understand anything being said to it. If the Child were older, say 12 years old, then I would say learn good morals and values. This will keep you on the right road in life if you have morals and values.
