Mindless Monday

That's how I feel this Monday morning. Totally mindless. As if my brains were sucked out by a Zombie pretty big mosquito. I'm just going through the motions today. Doing a load of laundry, cleaning the bathroom and picking up fucking dog toys everywhere I go. Sometimes I feel like I have 3 little two and three year old children running around this house in black and white onesies with speech impediments, fighting over toys and who loves mommy more. It's totally crazy.

Well, Mothers day was fun. I did a load of laundry, vacuumed and that was it. I had no energy what so ever after that. I spent the rest of the day with the puppies laying in bed watching really bad TV, which I gave up for a good book. My brother called me to see how I was doing and we chatted it up for a few minutes. Then one of the puppies farted and it pretty much cleared the room. I didn't go back to the bedroom until 8pm.

This morning I ventured out to check on some of the plants in the gardens. Everything is going great guns. The astilbe is coming up fast, but the begonias are slow as hell. I'm wondering if I'll have to write the nursery and ask for replacements. I have an old mock orange tree that I keep scaled down to a bush. It hasn't bloomed and I was wondering if it ever would. Well yesterday I was so surprised to find a few fragrant blooms on the tree. I have been babying that tree since 2 years ago. I've had it for 4 years now. I tried something different that I never heard of before. I poured a whole half liter bottle of club soda into the pot around the trunk about a week ago. Then bang I get flowers from a tree that never produced them in all the 4 years I've had it. It's because the club soda is like a fertilizer. It has natural minerals and phosphorus that plants crave. So this week when David goes shopping I'm going to have him grab up 5 more bottles of the stuff. If you want to try it, make sure it's the no or low salt club soda. This stuff perked up my house plants and that mock orange tree outside. I plan to pour it into my geraniums, begonias, and the astilbe. I'm wondering what it would do to the roses and the morning glories, or even the veggie garden. Hmmmmm.
As you all know by now I have gone to posting when I have the energy. Otherwise, my Wet Dog/Cat Wednesday is usually set up weeks in advance. So Monday is now Mindless Monday. Tuesday is Tickle Me Tuesday. Thursdays and Fridays will be open to whatever crazy shit I want to blog about. I don't know when I will be able to go back to Saturday or Sunday again. Right now it's pretty hard to run a 5 day blog. But I'll try to get back into the swing of things again before Autumn hits.

Plant Porn / Bow-Chika-wow-wow

Garden Porn Catalogs

Esperanza bush  source
Over the weekend David and I played dirty. He dug up the area along the chain linked fence and planted  6 more Esperanza bushes. He loves those things. We have them growing along the south and west sides of the house. When these little lovelies grow, they block the hot Texas sun from hitting the house. They love the heat and tolerate drought conditions to a certain degree. Meaning we only have to water them once a week. They also attract bees like crazy and we need bees for our veggie garden, so Esperanzas are helping us out in more ways than one here.

He also planted a butt load of Astilbe in 4 different colors for me. They were planted in the front garden in the shady areas. These flowers love the shade and tolerate almost every abuse you can throw at them. We will see if they stand up to those SOB cats in the neighborhood who like to use my garden for their personal toilet.

I also received a buttload of Begonia bulbs in the mail. I bought a whole catalog full of them. I love garden porn  These are the flowering kind. One of my most favorite flowers to grow and the hardest to keep alive. I love begonias because they are so pretty and the flower is like that of a rose. They come in beautiful colors and are also shade lovers. I planted them this morning and I'm hoping I can get these to grow and flower. If they do I will be the happiest camper ever.
