Gotta Love This Weather

Finally! I'm done for the day. I went out into the cold wet morning to run errands and get my blood drawn and I finally made it back home safe and sound in one piece. To let y'all know how long I'd been out, even Lucy barked at me when I opened the door. She doesn't do that unless one or both of us are gone for three or more hours. She is happy mommy is home though.

It's going to be another day and night of low temperatures and then the weekend will warm things up a little. I kind of love having the cold weather and will hate to see it go for a while. Of course, I will probably change my tune later when the cold is here for a few months. Maybe around February, I'll be screaming for warm spring weather but for now, it's nice to be able to dress in warm henleys and sweaters and wool socks and drink hot tea and coffee again. 

Tonight David wants soup so it's BLTs with tomato soup for us. He likes the idea of soup and BLTs for some reason lately and I'm not arguing with him about it. Veggie soup is really good on cold wet days like today. All I have to do is line a shallow baking pan with foil and then set the bacon slices on it and set the oven to 375. Put the pan into the oven for about 30 minutes or so and then heat up the tomato soup and make the sandwiches. Easy peasy. Well, I Have two and a half hours before I have to make dinner so I'm going to go relax and read for a while.

Wet Dog Wednesday

It's Fucking Cold

First off, for those of you that didn't understand the "don't throw the cheese slices at your baby sign from Saturday's post. There are memes and videos about it all over the place. Yeah, I know it's stupid but what can I say. That's society.

Second, today is trash pickup day. I took my customary hot shower to get my back to feeling better got dressed and took the trash outside to the cans sitting in back of David's truck. He moved them so they would get the cans by the carport. Anywho, Lucy was going to come with me but hesitated, smart dog. It took approximately three minutes for me to put the bags two in the can. I finally got the feeling back in my hands and feet. Stupid me didn't put on mukluks or parka. I knew it was going to be fucking cold but DAYUM!!

I came back in, turned on the coffee maker and poured a cup. Put my warm socks on and fuzzy killer bunnies and sipped my coffee while looking out the front door. I could barely make out the temperature reading but I think it said 22 but not sure. My computer said the ranch says 32, no 30, no wait 32. Yeah, it's hovering.  The wind is a killer. Makes everything feel like 17F out there. David called and asked if the little fat dude in a red suit was still sitting in one of the Adirondacks on our front porch this morning. I said so that was what Lucy was barking at earlier this morning. David said there were also a couple of big ass deer with racks of antlers yay big walking around on people's lawns munching on grass and plants. I asked when did the old guy leave because no one was out there anymore. Just a whole lot of what looks like elk turds.

Spunky

The weather guy says it will be getting colder tonight. They say down into the 20s maybe teens. I made a giant pot of veggie soup on Sunday, especially for this week. It should be good enough to carry us until the temps get about into the 50s which will be around Wednesday.

Lucy

Lucy is all wrapped up in her blanket on the sofa next to me and  Spunky is wrapped up in his blanket snoring on the recliner. I heard the heater just come on. I turned it down so that it only comes on when the house temps fall below 60F. It's going to be blowing warm air in a minute, which is good because it's getting cold in here. I have the plants that were in the courtyard all inside in the dining room. Since David and I don't use the dining room except for family occasions I turned it into a growing room. A whole bunch of happy plants under the grow lights right now.

Well, I need to go check on Spunky because he's in the TV room and he's blind and tends to get up and roam around like a broken Roomba. Then he starts barking out in frustration until I come to his rescue. Poor old man.

Monday Sucks Monkey Toes

I'm so tired right now. I haven't been able to sleep the past 48 hours because of the effects of an impending front coming through at around noon today. It will be dropping temperatures into the 20s to the 30s for the rest of the week. SO I am waiting patiently, well, not really. I want this shit to be over with now. I have my family doctor's appointment next week so I have to get my blood drawn and just the thought of getting into my car and driving across town makes me cringe. Usually, after driving I'm in so much pain for at least 24 hours that no TENS unit could ever help keep that pain away. 

Anywho, I had a nice weekend except for the pain. I did all the laundry on Thursday and Friday so I could relax over the weekend. David and I went and shopped a little for Thanksgiving. We put in for a precooked ham online from the Honey Baked Ham Company in New Braunfels. It's always good to set up for one at least two weeks before you need to pick it up. They sell so many pre-cooked hams and turkeys over the holidays. What I mean by setup is put your name in and they give you a registration number online and you make a printout of it and take it with you when you are scheduled to pick it up to verify that you bought a turkey or ham from them. They also have treats and sides like gravy, potatoes, green beans, pies, etc. I always cook the sides and desserts myself but because of my problem with MCTD, we make it easier on me by buying the ham. It's so much faster to just heat it up and get the other things at one time than to take all day cooking.

Well, I'm in a butt load of pain with an attention span of a gnat and a mean streak of a pissed-off hungry tiger so I'm going to spend a little while - fuck it, the whole fucking day in bed on the heating pad. All y'all have a magical day.

Music To Close Out The Week

Yesterday, I went to check out what my friend the Ol'Buzzard was up to. By the way, you should follow the link on his blog name. The man is awesome in my book. 

Well, he introduced me to a bit of music from Youtube. I was so interested that I followed the youtube video and there are a whole bunch of these wonderful old songs. My favorites are being played by fantastic musical artists from all around the world. Now, I'm going to be posting one video from the Play For Change playlist each Friday to get you singing along maybe even dancing a little or just puttering around.
