MY MINIONS

Late Post

Last night was bad. We have been having thunderstorms all day yesterday and that meant Lucy was on me shaking. She hates thunder and fireworks. I was able to calm her down when I sang to her. But last night was bad. We usually just have one storm and then it's gone but this time the storm stream was right over us. Storm after storm developed and went. Lucy was going crazy. I was tired and grumpy from a bad cold I was fighting and I took it out on her. I made her leave the bedroom. As far as David told me this morning, she slept in the hallway outside our bedroom door all night.
Poor baby. I felt so bad this morning so I called her into the bedroom to sleep with me when David got up at fucking too early o'clock. She refused, so I went and got her to let her know I was sorry for kicking her out. She slept with me up until almost 11:30. She is sleeping again beside me on the couch as I'm blogging and skimming the web. I think she forgave me because we shared a bacon and egg brunch.
David is celebrating 46 years with Hexcel. He gets to pick his gifts so he picked an Apple Ipad, JBL Bluetooth headphones, and a freezable koozie for soda. I wanted the JBL headphones and he got the Ipad. Which is cool because I like listening to my music while I'm walking around the house and this is a wireless headphone. So cool. I can also shut David out when he bothers me during his vacation.
Well, I have some laundry to get to so y'all play nice and have a magical day.

Tuesday - Move Along, Nothing to See Here

A little less pain today and I'm typing close to my normal speed again. I did an ice and heat treatment this morning and feel better but not 100%. We have a cloudy day today. It's dreary this morning and it's amazing how green everything is and the colors of my roses are so vivid. I love it when the weather is like this. It's not too humid and it's 70 degrees right now so I'm sitting outside on the front porch for a while.
This morning, Lucy made me smile. She comes into the bedroom to sleep with me when David goes to work, but first, she checks the perimeter inside the house. I have seen her do this. Really. I have. She starts in the laundry room and looks around. Then she moves into the kitchen, dining room, living room, TV room where the Spunkasaurus* is sleeping. then she runs through the hallway to the bedroom, and I do mean she runs. She jumps up into the bed and moves the blankets into a nest and proceeds to sleep. But this morning she just checked on the Spunkinator* in the TV room to make sure he was asleep and I'm guessing he was because she ran to the bedroom and took a flying leap into the bed and immediately pulled the blanket over herself. She wasn't asleep because when I turned over she poked her head out from under the blanket. She was full of piss and vinegar and wanted to play. So we roughhoused for a minute and then I got up to get dressed. She just laid there on her back watching me and fell asleep. She got up when she heard the tea kettle whistle.
Right now she is watching squirrels from the living room window. This is her daily routine. She has been following me all over the house all morning and I'm guessing that feisty little shit will attack me sooner or later when I least expect it. It's just a matter of time before she gets even with me for roughhousing and tickling her this morning.

* Spunky has many names beginning with Spunk. I like to make them up during my day.

Monday - This Might Take a While

I decided to come back today after a week-long vacation that was quite badly needed. I was feeling homesick after talking on the phone with my brother. Then I realized why should I feel homesick for a place of hate and backstabbing when my real home, full of love and kindness is where I am now. Anyhoo, I took the week off to get some things done. So now I'm back, ready to torture all y'all to death, as is my specialty.

I did do one bad thing to myself and that was I aggravated an old right shoulder rotator cuff injury. I'm supposed to go to my orthopedic surgeon every so often when it starts hurting to get the dead tissue cleaned away from the nerves. This requires a one-hour procedure involving arthroscopic surgery. I'll be in and out in one day and I can start rehab right away at home. Yeah, it's so easy but I'm chicken shit. I want to wait a bit longer so we'll see if I can hold out with this pain a couple of weeks longer. I need to wait because I have a doctor's appointment soon and I don't want to reschedule it. It took me a month to get it.

Anyhoo, the pain of my shoulder will make me type a bit slower so my blogging will take a while to get out. I am doing heat and ice treatments to quell the pain as much as possible. It works pretty well for a while. At least I'm not on my painkillers although I do wish I could get my hands on some primo top shelf MJ. That would do it for me big time.

Well, I have some laundry that is screaming my name. The dryer alarm just sounded it was done. Ciao Y'all! Have a magical day.

Friday Funny

For the students that read my blog. If you think Mythology is boring, just remember this. Cerberus, the three-headed hellhound  of Hades that guarded the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving, comes from the Greek word kerberos. Kerberos was changed to Latin Cerberus. Kerberos means spotted.

Yeah, The Lord of the dead, Hades, named his dog spot.

Lucy

I slept until almost 10 am this morning but was awake at 4 when David usually gets up. Don't ask me why he gets up at that ungodly hour because I have no answer. Only farmers get up that early. Maybe he was a farmer in his previous life. Anywho, I turned over and went back to sleep and at some time during that wonderful warm comfortable sleep, Lucy crawled into bed with me, curled up and started snoring in my ear and that woke me up for good.
The funny little thing about Boston Terriers is that when they get comfortable they snore. It has something to do with the fact that they are brachycephalic, meaning short head. Dogs that have what looks like a pushed in snout snore a lot and they fart like little old men which sometimes, as I have told David, that both Lucy and Spunky could knock several buzzards off a shit wagon at 50 paces. Hence the reason why I keep a candle lit in any room that I happen to be in during the day. I will go so far as to take it with me because anywhere I go, Lucy goes with me.
Personally, the reason why Lucy follows me is that she is taking mental notes on how to be human. YES! SHE IS! Lucy is a keen observer. She has been taking notes on how to dress, walk upright and how to greet other humans. She has noticed that we humans hug or shake hands and not smell each other's butts. She is learning how to be human. I think it's because she's hoping the blue fairy, no, wait, that's for puppets, not puppies. Anywho she's waiting for that one special night for her fairy godmother, yeah, that's right, to come and change her into a real live human little girl, or something close to that. I just hope she doesn't fart as much because man that little dog could be labeled as a weapon of mass destruction.

It's Tuesday - Snow and Speeding

My GAWD! All y'all up north are fucked. One snow storm after another. I'm guessing the northeastern coastline is screaming by now, "ENOUGH!"
I hear y'all. We aren't having winter down here in Texas. Spring is here in the southern part of the state. Although we did have a teensy weensy cold front come through here recently. It didn't do anything that we don't already have. I do feel for all y'all up there though. I've lived in Maryland and Virginia a few years but that was when I was little and snow was fun. But I do feel sorry for y'all.
David nearly got himself a speeding ticket last week Friday. He was coming home for lunch and a sheriff's deputy stopped him. But the funny thing was David was stopped right outside the driveway. Now I have to say something for my husband. The man doesn't speed when he drives. David always drives at least five miles under the limit, I shit you not. I hate when he drives because everyone passes us up and gives us dirty looks. Luckily he was given a warning. I think it's because he has never had a ticket since he got his license way back when dinosaurs roamed. No really! My husband is an antique.

A Miracle and Other Stuff

Something happened Sunday morning. It was unbelievable. I actually saw David replace the washer in the kitchen faucet. YES!!! He did it without me having to call the plumber. It was a miracle!! *Cue the choir music. Yes, he did it without getting water all over the counter or floor. The faucet isn't leaking anymore!! It was a Sunday morning blessed miracle!!! Yeah, after pestering the shit outta him to fix it for weeks, he finally did it. When he saw that he had fixed it without making at least five trips to Home Desperate he was so proud of himself that I just had to pat him on the back and tell him atta boy. Then I gave him a couple of cookies for his effort and he went off into the TV room grinning like a little boy.
For the next few days, we are supposed to be without the sun again. The temps have been in the 70's and 80's for two weeks now. Spring is here for us in South Texas. I have my windows and doors open for the fresh air and I'm sitting on the front porch typing and drinking my tea. My roses are going crazy growing and blooming all over the place. Every time I prune them back to keep them low they want to defy me and grow taller. So I just give up. Let them do as they like. The pecan trees are getting ready to bloom with leaves too. David loves the pecan trees but they don't love him. He gets to sneezing and sniffling in the spring. It usually lasts until the flower blooms finish and they fall. Then there's a green mist from the flower pollen covering everything including the cars. David has to go rent a power washer and clean the siding and roof of the house and also the pavers and driveway. The green mist is hard to get rid of otherwise.
We had a rather large visitor this past Saturday evening. I was washing the dinner dishes and happened to spot a hawk perched on our fence. I've seen hawks and buzzards fly high overhead trolling for chihuahuas and poodles but I've never seen one perch on our fence before. I called to David and we both watched it catch a little green lizard in the grass and then fly off. David said he has never seen a hawk that close up. He was quite mesmerized by how majestic it was.
