I'm moving a little slow and low on the radar this morning. I was up most of the night reading and when I read a really good book I just forget where I am and what time it is. I think I finally fell asleep about 4:30 and then woke up at a little after 7am. So, yeah I'm moving slow and low.
The one vice I have is reading Michael Connelly books. I currently just finished the third book in the Harry Bosch(LAPD Homicide Detective) series last night and I'll be starting the fourth book in the Micky Haller(Lincoln Lawyer) series tonight. I already pre-ordered the fifth book in that series. I just love Connelly. He's good because he gives you everything to work with in the first ten chapters and then he twists the ending so you think you solved the mystery from all the clues but got it all wrong. I have never solved his mysteries, once, yet.
so true! |
Anywho, I started reading at 7pm and then finished the third Harry Bosch book and around 2am I found out that the Mary Trump book, Too Much and Never Enough, came out after midnight. I'm a book touchy feely kinda person. I like to feel the weight and pages and smell the book but I had pre-ordered Mary Trump's book last week for my reader so I could get it early. It was worth the deal. The book is a scathing account of what happened in the Trump family and the manipulation of the family members by Fred Trump the patriarch. Mary Trump pretty much psychoanalysis the family through first and second-hand accounts. It's a pretty good read and well worth the money.
Well, I'm going to go start another load of laundry and try to get an idea of what David might want for dinner. Lately, we have been eating salads and sandwiches for dinner. It's just too fucking hot to cook. It was 106 yesterday and the fifth day to be in the 100's. By the time we went to bed last night, it was 104. At 2am this morning it was 97. Too fucking hot and the humidity is vicious as shit.
Y'all have a safe and magical day.

Another book-worm here ~ here's to reading!
nope nope nope, I would NOT like living in TX. currently 82F up here and low humidity. I like to read a real book also.
this weather is so awful. my worst nightmare! we've been almost 100 and have had heat indexes over 100 for weeks. everything has shriveled up and lots have died. an i am far away from texas!
I like books too. I don't like reading them on a screen.
If you haven't read any books by James Lee Burke, you must...and I love the Bosch series..but then love all his books..
and it's hotter than a 2peckered goat.
Being a South Australian I can sympathise about the heat.
I loved the Harry Bosch stories but haven't yet started the Mickey Haller series. They're on my kindle which I am working through alphabetically by title not by author, in between real paper books.
not quite as hot here but just as oppressive. I laughed at what living in Texas is like. spot on. I prefer actual books too. I saw on excerpt, don't know if it's real or not, that Mary walked in on Trump and Ivanka having sex. can't be real.
My wife and I both fit into the anatomy of a bookworm. It seems you do the same as I, when you find an author you like you binge read the whole series.
A great way to spend the pandemic separation time - hell, it is the normal way my wife and I spend any time.
the Ol'Buzzard
It's always exciting to find a book that's so good you simply cannot put it down!
i live in dripping springs and i loved your texas meme. comon' fall!!!
I carry around a list of authors and the books I'm looking for so if something pops up at an estate sales or used bookstore, I'm ready to buy. Well, used to do that. I don't go anywhere any more! I do have a kindle and it's nice to be able to increase the text size but - not the same!
